Here is a picture of my lovely boy. He lives for food and was known to empty a large haynet in minutes. Before Trickle Net I had to put his night hay in 3 nets inside each other – big pain. This is Pearl my 6 year old mini currently on box rest after her first episode of Laminitis. She has been diagnosed with EMS and is on a diet and medication. Trickle nets may be expensive but they are worth their weight in gold!! I used to triple net poppy’s haynets and she used to eat everything really quickly. Trickle net….no problem :D always had some left every morning!

I am going to be double/triple netting cher’s but she doesn’t gulp as much as poppy its more to stop her taking huge mouthfuls!

Another trickle net fan. Yes they are more expensive to purchase, but you only need one per horse, there is no fiddling about with double/triple netting. It takes them 2-3 times as long to eat half the amount of hay, and because of the work involved in getting the hay out they clear up what gets dropped on the floor.

I honestly think I’ve saved at least the cost of each haynet in hay which hasn’t got wasted on the floor already this winter. Plus no balancing between over feeding horses and leaving them without food, no battling with layering nets either! I’m completely sold. One of mine just chews right through haynets too and I’ve had these since about March, and they all still look brand new, even with the chewer.

All in between the lack of wastage, the reduced amount of hay they are consuming and the fact I don’t have to keep purchasing new nets for the chewer I’ve saved at least double what I spent purchasing them already. hold of, and there’s fine string like haylage netting over the hole so difficult to get hay out of too!

Triple netting with small-holed hay nets was taking me ages so I decided to invest in a trickle net after reading reviews online. It arrived in a couple of days. It’s tough and heavy, square shaped, kind of like a shopping bag. It’s quite stiff but I think it will soften with use and should be pretty indestructable. The rope closure is heavy duty so it’s a bit tricky to thread through the net if that’s how you tie it up to a ring. I weighed it empty and it weighs about 1kg. Filled for the first time it was 6kg so that’s 5kg of hay. It will probably stretch quite a bit so I’ll have to make sure not to put too much in.

There’s a lady on my yard with a haflinger with EMS that I’m quite friendly with. I was telling her I’d just got a trickle net, and she already has one!. She uses a small-holed haynet inside of the trickle net. She says she has also tried an eliminet and the trickle net is so much better.

Have any of you tried a Trickle Net? Believe me, they are brilliant for greedy Dales! Having just wasted money on Shires Greedy Feeder Nets, I came across Trickle Net on google search as I needed something to console myself after such a big disappointment with the Shires’ ones. They are £30 but are heavy duty and the holes do not stretch, unlike the Greedy Feeder. I filled one net this morning at 8.00am for my two Dales to share from and it lasted ’till 11.30. Have ordered two more so they have one each in stables as I anticipate it lasting my mare all night or all day and my greedy gelding approx 6 hours.

I have a trickle net for my greedy cob, the horses don’t come in much but when they do it gives me piece of mind that she is eating slowly all night rather than standing for hours without food. If she has a normal net or hay on the floor she eats really quickly.

I bought 2 Trickle Nets 6 weeks ago…………..I am so happy I did. Yes, they are expensive BUT they are no ordinary haynets. For starters the holes don’t stretch as the material is very thick. They are so so easy to fill as they have a huge opening. They are large, you can put masses of hay in. And finally they keep your horse happy for 5 times longer than an ordinary haynet will. My horse is getting through far less hay now but still has ad lib as the nets limit how much he can eat.
